#1: Clutch went?.. Author: omricn, Location: israelPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 12:35 am ---- On my way to work today, just as I was entering the main enterance the clutch pedal made a snap sound, and kinda' "fell down", the engine almost turnd off but as I was floring the clutch pedal again it began to react again, then after a couple of meters it snaped again, this time the car died. I restarted it to park it closer to the curve until the tow truck comes (already called it..) and the clutch pedal made this 'snap!' again and the engine died.
now, I once had a car where the clutch went, but not like this, it was'not as fast as this..
Did anyone experience this??
Well it's already in my uncle's garage now, so I'll probably know soon what went wrong.
Looking on the bright side a new clutch would be nice

Forgot to mention, the first thing I checked was the cable, to see if it broke, but on the pedal side it was ok, the strange thing is that the clutch would function for a couple of seconds and then go snap, for example when the tow truck driver drove it on his truck it was ok and didnt snap or anything..
Just spoke to my uncle, he's cheknig it right now..

Yeah.. sounds right to me.. in that case it's likely to be a new clutch you think?
#6: Re: Clutch went?.. Author: omricn, Location: israelPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 2:49 am ---- All done, replaced cable and another mechanism of which I don't have any info yet as my uncle just called me to go pick it up
#7: Re: Clutch went?.. Author: austin316, Location: crawleyPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 3:39 am ---- sorry to jump in on your post, but the other day i was driving, and the clutch kept 'clicking' when i pushed it down, and i kept driving, as it was still fine, just clicking, then i pushed it again, and like you say, it just fell, but my car didnt die, I just released and pushed it in again, and clutch started working again, however it does sometimes still click, reckon it could also be the cable or something bigger?

Not done one on a 206 yet (if it has one), but the Fords were a PITA to do and the position you would get into with your legs over the seat and head touching the accelerator wasn't the comfiest.

#11: Re: Clutch went?.. Author: E5GDM, Location: EssexPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 7:08 am ---- Auto adjust.
#12: Re: Clutch went?.. Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 7:14 am ---- If the cable has reached the end of its travel its likely that the clutch is on its last legs
