The problem hasnt gone! what engine flush could i use, i tihnk this is the next thing to try.

The VVT sensor is under the engine cover on the left of the block. it has a wire going into the top of it with a plug. unclip the plug and undo the alan bolt then pull out. It looks like a tower. You cant miss it.

Coilpack? One issue i had, which caused problems starting, was that oil had leaked out the engine covers and gone down the spark plug holes. Once cleaned out was much better.

Coilpack will normally cause a misfire, never heard of this before.

I just took plugs out and let oil drain in cylinder then turned it over a few times, lol

I'm lost now, wish it would just break and a code come up! I'm trying to sell it. It just doesn't want to idle properly and is misfiring on start up. Can't exactly sell it whilst this is happening!

Just been told to spray carb cleraner into the intake behind the butterfly.. Bit worried where it will go though lol. It is pretty black in there! What sort of damage would it do?!?!?!

i did that with mine and seems to have eased up the problem...ideally u supposed to take it off but i did mine in short cut way... carb cleaner spray then wip with clean cloth so as to limit the dirtiness from getting in

Carb cleaner in the intake will just get sucked into the engine. Won't really do much at all as it will get sucked up before it cleans anything.

Have you tried cleaning the idle control valve. That could be sticking causing erratic idle.
