#1: cigarette lighter Author: jk206, Location: GainsboroughPosted: Wed Aug 01, 2012 6:07 am ---- How can I wire in a second cigarette lighter as its a pain in the rear where it is because cables get round the hand brake and gear stick. If others have done it where is the best place to put one and best way to wire it up. Cheers

Id prefer to wire a new one in so i dont have wires all over the shop lol
So I'm guessing if it was to tap into the existing lighter I'd have to put an inline fuse in just to be on the safe side?

Only if it/you use thinner wire than what goes to the existing lighter. If same or heavier, then the existing fuse will protect the added wire as well.
Not that adding a fuse anyway is a bad idea...

wouldn't bother with a fuse!!!
Best place would be glovebox as there is plenty of room at the back of it to put a couple in!!!!!

I know its appealing to me now lol!
their are 3 wires for the cig lighter if you use a pug one,
light
power
earth
just run 3 cables from the original one to that or splice into them,
would look good to!!

#12: Re: cigarette lighter Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:21 am ---- I fitted a second accessory socket. I put it in the passenger side footwell just below the ashtray, in the gap near the airbag ecu. Took about 10 minutes to do by splicing into the original wiring loom that powers the cigarette lighter. It doesn't light up but that's only through choice and has a black cover over it so you hardly know it's there. Will take a picture next time I go out to the car.

I keep meaning to fit the black cover over my lighter socket, I got one out of a Citroen years ago, maybe get round to it when I change the blown bulb
Lighter has never been used in my 206
