#1: 206 gti180 tapping.. help? Author: pug-206-boy, Location: Eastbourne, East SussexPosted: Wed Aug 01, 2012 8:46 am ---- Hi guys,
My GTi 180 has done 65k and tapping right through the rev range...
The oil is not a problem, I'm thinking tappets? But aren't they auto ajusted?
Is there a heat shield problem or mani rattle the same as the 138? Baffle rattling?
I'm stumped as to what it is...going to change the oil and filter soon, just need a rough idea what you reckon it is....
Cheers guys

If its the tappets you can get some tappet flushing fluid which may help when you change the oil. A tapet going is quite unlikely though unless you car has been sitting around not running for a LONG time.
Check the heat plate at the back of the engine covering the manifold.
