#1: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:10 am ---- Like the title says, my car beeps every time I start it and says ABS Fault on the screen, but my car doesn't have ABS, so why is it saying this and how can I get rid of it? It's doing my head in!

Mine kept coming up with random messages when the battery was on its way out, replaced it and no messages appeared!
#5: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:00 pm ---- Pretty sure it doesn't have ABS, my mechanic friend checked it and said it doesn't have it. The battery seems fine to me, the car starts no problem and have not had any other battery related problem with the car.
Where is the best place for a new battery, should I get a new one or will a second hand one from a scrappy be fine?
#6: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: jk206, Location: GainsboroughPosted: Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:03 pm ---- Don't get a battery from a scrappy as it could be as bad if not worse than your current battery. Get a brand new one from local garage e.g kwikfit
#7: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:11 pm ---- Kwikshit for a battery
Local motor factor & pick up a Varta / Bosch, you get what you pay for
#8: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Mon Aug 06, 2012 3:32 pm ---- Ok cheers will have a look and see where local

#9: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 12:47 pm ---- Just checking, it wouldn't be the MFD would it? Perhaps it was from a car that had ABS and the error is from a previous car and hasn't been cleared? A mechanic had it on the computer to read the error and said it was an ABS one but the car definitely doesn't have ABS so doesn'twinow why it's saying that. It also had some other engine error codes as well he said he would have to check as he wasn't sure what they were.

The car has no abs, how can he fix it? Although clearing the fault might help
#12: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,WarwickshirePosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 1:32 pm ---- If I go to the mechanic with a problem I expect it to be sorted and not to go home with same problem. Does this mechanic have Peugeot planet?
#13: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 2:47 am ---- He cleared the code but it kept coming back again and also said there were some other fault codes he had never seen before but they related to the engine so he was going to check them out and would get back to me.
I didn't go to a mechanic intentionally, he was with my mate when I called over and he mentioned it to him, so he put it on his computer he had in his van. I don't even know who he is but I'm thankful he at least tried to sort the problem out.
#14: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Sun Aug 19, 2012 4:41 am ---- Changed the battery over and the problem still persists. So it isn't the battery. Any other ideas?
#15: Re: "ABS Fault" But I Don't Have ABS! Author: Steve206, Location: UKPosted: Sun Aug 19, 2012 5:14 am ---- I would go into bsi with Peugeot planet and check to see if abs has been turned on, car will be looking for it.
