#1: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 12:07 pm ---- My peugeot 206, 1.1l (05 reg) drives well on smooth roads, but on bumpy roads// occasionally going around corners it makes a sort of clunking/creaking noise (hard to describe) but I think its coming from the rear of the car. On the recent MOT it has advisories on the anti roll linkage bars.. could this be the problem.. and will replacing them solve it? (& how much are you talking to do this?) if not what else could it be??
Any help appreciated!!

#3: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 12:16 pm ---- Well I think its coming from the back.. what else could it be? something to do with the suspension??
#4: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: Dillon, Location: KentPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 1:21 pm ---- Knocks bangs clunks from the front and the rear are common it's french! could be front suspension rear suspension exhaust spare wheel cage, the list is endless I would change the links as a matter of course if they have been highlighted already!
#5: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 1:45 pm ---- Yeah will look into the links, and hope that solves the problem.. only thing is that the MOT was only a week or so ago, so surely if something was majorly wrong with the suspension or whatever else, it would have shown up on the MOT.. if i'm right? (I've only just acquired the car so don't know if this was a long standing problem or not)

#8: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: AzMan, Location: LondonPosted: Thu Aug 09, 2012 12:56 pm ---- Could be your CV joint (constant velocity joint)
Check how the wishbone looks too, turn the wheel full lock to the appropriate side. Does it clunk when stationary?
#9: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 12:06 pm ---- onI'm not very car savvy.. What's the Constant velocity joint and what does it do?? (& same for the wishbone) ... will have to test that though..
Would this stuff have shown up on the MOT by the way?? Cause i'm just wondering how it couldve been missed otherwise.
#10: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 12:21 pm ---- Was thinking of changing the anti roll link bars cause they have been pointed out on the MOT and see if that sorts the problem... ??
#11: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: lukepug19, Location: OxfordshirePosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 12:35 pm ---- I have just had the same problem with mine and it was the anti roll bar links
#12: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Sun Aug 12, 2012 4:08 am ---- That's reassuring! I'm defo going to get the anti roll bar links changed and hope that solves it.. Thanks!!
#13: Re: Clunking noise :S Author: sjd92, Location: United KingdomPosted: Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:26 am ---- Hand the anti roll bar links changed and it has solved that problem! yay! .... only thing is there is a slight noise from the engine .. something to do with the water pump or something.. which would cost a substantial amount due to possibly having to change the cam belt at the same time.. its not urgent, but still.
