could anyone help with this problem ? I recently bought second hand alloys wheels and since putting them on I get pulling to the left under breaking. it's not everytime I brake but is a huge worry when it's dragging you towards ditches and not expecting it. also have constant wheel wobble around the 65-70 mph mark if anyone can help me with that also. any comments are much appreciated

Did you get your wheels balanced prior to fitting them?

no I didn't. ( I'm guessing huge mistake ) I have it booked in for 2 new front tyres at the weekend, which will obviously be balanced. should I also get the rear wheels balanced to be safe ?

What wheels did you have on before?

Steel or alloys?

I had alloys before pal. they were 14 inch and I've gone to 15 inch ( if that matters ) I've seen the new wheels I have one a lot of fords ( multi spokes ) and the balance weight would have to sit on the inner side but I can't see one on either

You could try swapping the wheels N/S to O/S to see if it starts pulling to the right. If it pulls to the right then it is probably the wheels, if it continues to pull to the left then I'd be looking at the suspension and steering.

Have you checked to see if the tyres are directional?

all rotations are good except for passenger rear. should I see if they can rectify this when I have the two front tyres replaced and maybe swap the wrong rotation tyre ?

I will try swapping o/s and n/s fronts and see what results I get. will do that tomorrow and get back to you pal.

thanks guys for your help and comments, just got back from having tyres replaced and wheels balanced. I no longer have pulling to the left under braking and wheel wobble is now sorted. problem was worn tyres and no balancing weights ( to be honest they were worn to slicks on the inside of fronts... past user must have been an angry driver lol ) anyway thanks again for taking the time to comment and help

Bottom arm bush maybe mate

Jack car up, so wheel is of the ground.
Then use a bar to left the wheel up & down, check for play in the bushes

While your at it, check wheel bearing. While cars jacket up, move the wheel back and forth.
By that i mean, push away from you at the top
Of the wheel, pull towards at the bottom.

If there is any play, new wheel bearing.

Glad you sorted it! Knew it wasn't anything mechanical as you stated you just started with the faults when you fitted the wheels Very Happy
