206 HDI glow plug relay
-> 206 Problems

#1: 206 HDI glow plug relay Author: spiritse, Location: wales PostPosted: Thu Aug 09, 2012 3:37 pm

I have the relay off the car, upon starting the car the glow plug light havent been coming on.

this might be causing the problems with starting, the relay has been tested and showing 12 volts on brown 10mm cable from the battery. the black 8 mm wire shows no power at all when turning on the ignition. Although this is only on for a few seconds. nothing is showing up at all.

I have taken the 5 pin plug off and tested the power coming down the cable, the number 1 pin is the earth and when doing a continuity test to the negative shows ok.

I have tested between pin 1 for earth and pin 3 for the power from Fuse, this shows 12 volts.

Can anyone tell me if there should be power from the ECU to pin 4 or 5 to test them.

I have had an aftermarket ECU as the old one become corrupted by pulling a fuse out and wasnt able to be wipped.

I can send it back but want to make sure it's not the relay first.

It's too warm for the glow plugs to even light up. Needs to be about 0c before they light up. What's your starting problem?

Pm lee.... Oh wait.

intermitted starting, it starts and runs, sometimes it stalls within 3 secs and then wont start for about 20 to 30 mins

I would check your fuel pump, fault code read, earth points. Sounds electrical. Doubt relay though, if it starts first time?
