Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 5:41 am ---- Just aquired a 2002 1.9D 206 but unfortunately it comes with a fair bit of electrical baggage. Basically, although the car starts and runs fine and the battery and alternator test ok there is the following problem(s)
About a minute after switching the ignition on all the dash lights/dials die. The radio, blower and wipers are all dead. There is an intermittent message on the multi display 'Economy Mode'. The battery light is the only light staying on although the battery is definitely charging.Any pointers from the experts here would be much appreciated, expecially if it makes it look like I know what I'm talking about when I take it in to the garage.

Possible earth lead fault.
Do the wipers and bower work with just ignition on and the engine not running?
BSI reset is usually the first port of call. Is the car plexed or pre-plexed?

Wipers, blowers rev counter DO NOT work at all (even when dash lights up during minute after ignition switched on. Only things that are working are lights and indicators.
Not sure whether car is 'plexed' or not as I don't know how to tell
How do you do a BSI reset? Have tried locking/unlocking car (Central Locking not working but I'm not sure if it worked before the above problems started.

As I've just got the car I have no way of knowing if battery has been removed incorrectly in the past. Car was stood for 2 months before i got it.
