#1: Must solve electrical problems before I blow a fuse.... Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 5:41 am ---- Just aquired a 2002 1.9D 206 but unfortunately it comes with a fair bit of electrical baggage. Basically, although the car starts and runs fine and the battery and alternator test ok there is the following problem(s)
About a minute after switching the ignition on all the dash lights/dials die. The radio, blower and wipers are all dead. There is an intermittent message on the multi display 'Economy Mode'. The battery light is the only light staying on although the battery is definitely charging.Any pointers from the experts here would be much appreciated, expecially if it makes it look like I know what I'm talking about when I take it in to the garage.

Possible earth lead fault.
Do the wipers and bower work with just ignition on and the engine not running?
BSI reset is usually the first port of call. Is the car plexed or pre-plexed?
#4: Re: Must solve electrical problems before I blow a fuse.... Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 8:07 am ---- Battery test result ok although this was only done with a DIY tester (always been ok in the past)
Wipers, blowers rev counter DO NOT work at all (even when dash lights up during minute after ignition switched on. Only things that are working are lights and indicators.
Not sure whether car is 'plexed' or not as I don't know how to tell
How do you do a BSI reset? Have tried locking/unlocking car (Central Locking not working but I'm not sure if it worked before the above problems started.

Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 9:31 am ---- Thanks...Radio stalk is same as illustration in guide so car is presumably plexed. As I've just got the car I have no way of knowing if battery has been removed incorrectly in the past. Car was stood for 2 months before i got it.

#8: Re: Must solve electrical problems before I blow a fuse.... Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 10:52 am ---- Have tried a new (fully charged) battery and also a soft BSI rest described elsewhere on this site but still the same problems unfortunately
#9: Re: Must solve electrical problems before I blow a fuse.... Author: Steve206, Location: UKPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 10:58 am ---- Not a battery fault, clearly an electrical fault. Could be a knackered bsi, could be a blown fuse. Auto electrician job if you can't trace it.
#10: Re: Must solve electrical problems before I blow a fuse.... Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2012 12:17 pm ---- That's what I was hoping I could avoid but thanks for all the above suggestions. Will update this forum if the local independent Peugeot garage manage to resolve
#11: Re: Must solve electrical problems before I blow a fuse.... Author: judymoss, Location: NottinghamPosted: Thu Aug 23, 2012 11:19 pm ---- Turned out to be a dodgy BSI unit (now fixed)...thanks once again for all the above advice
