Hi guys nice site okies help appreciated here

Have a 206 GTI 2.0 130BHP `99 model, have changed engine on it, engine started up fine was running 20 mins or so on axle stands, after a bit it died and when i try to start it now i get a loud clicking from the ECU, the ECU Light flickers in time with the clicking and the fan comes on automatically,

The engine seems to turn over fine without any wierd noises ect. but soesnt fire.

I deliberatly trip the shunt switch and the ecu doesnt click but again engine still turs but doesnt fire up.

Any ideas ?

Sounds like a trapped wire somewhere OR a wire connected up wrong.

I'm sure someone on here has had similar before where they have connected a wire wrong when swopping the lump.

Recheck wiring carefully, make sure you haven't trapped anything / put a wire somewhere it shouldn't be.

Make sure the ecu isn't missing any of its earths on the connector plug.

Trip switch tripped will stop power going to fuel pump & you say this stops the ecu clicking so check the wiring under the bonnet / double relay under ecu.
