#1: Janspeed cat-back exhaust fitting price? Author: lee1985, Location: North WestPosted: Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:22 am ---- Don't want to shop around first so that people try and take me for a ride.
There are many respected people on here in the know how.
What is a reasonable price to be quoted to fit a Janspeed Cat Back system? and what is too excessive. I bought one from eBay and now need it fitting. Can anyone give a price range band that I should really stick to?
I am based in Manchester.
I bought this and a K&N air filter/panel.
Don't want to add anything else as people have mentioned about losin low RPM power in order to give way for the gains of higher RPM that modding the GTI 180 gives. If these mods mean that my car will be a minimum 170bhp I'll be happy (I know that 180s are lower than 180 but would hope it would be reinstated to at least 170 with these mods)?!
Also can I just ask before I install, some people mention it is loud for motorway driving and I do a little motorway driving like 20 minutes every few days or so, how uncomfortable would this be compared to the standard exhaust which is a little loud anyway due to the natural RPM at 70mph?
Thank you

Yeah, you will notice a difference in motorway driving, no doubt about it, the sound difference really depends on the exhaust you buy. I used to have one on the 206, and that was barely noticable, the one I've got now on the E46 is quite loud.

Can I just add as well, what's the difference between a K&N air filter and a panel filter, or are they the same thing? I've bought this for my GTI 180, I know it's not going to do much but still a slight improvement over the stock air filter. Was it a waste of money? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390...1497.l2649

It's reckoned that they are better than cone style filters because they are in the standard air box and somewhat shielded from any engine heat.

The cat clamp might need cut off and the back one will rust if you don't fit stainless.
Like said before, do it yourself it won't take long with a couple of ramps.
Ps. I think the front clamp is the same size as the smaller of the 2 spark plug sockets and due to the length of the thread on the clamp you will need to use it or a long socket.

They fit mine on for £55, saying that it needed completely reworking because the exhaust wasn't made for the 206. If its £55 for the extra piping, hangers, and welding they needed to do they should be pretty cheap. Work is top quality too!
