I thought mine was faulty last year so disconnected it to see if there was a difference and it feels like no turbo boost at all; slow acceleration.
Try disconnecting it and see if the symptoms you have are the same or worse.
Mine turned out to be the crankshaft sensor at fault which was making the car miss every once in a while.
I did actually replace the MAF sensor but it wasn't that which was faulty.
My car is a 206 1.4 HDI and I have the old MAF still which works fine if you do need one.

The symptoms are as previously stated lack of power, rough idle, and sometimes a drop off of power when pulling out of junctions or roundabouts.
Best thing get it fixed asap.

Car wouldn't really respond, MPG was down considerably and would heave out black smoke when cruising along the A roads. Although there was no faults I didn't want to go and fork out on a new MAF to discover the problem lies a bit deeper.
So read around a bit and some people have used brake cleaner to clean the MAF with.
Well I had carb cleaner and thought, what the heck, took it off and doused it through. It was fairly black as it dripped out. I let it dry out and popped it back on.
The car is different to drive now. Not so much but just a little more responsive, the smoke has gone and the MPG is up about 6/7 miles
All in all I'm happier with it now.
