Its the 54 plate 1.6 16v. it needs sorting prwtty soon so before i splash out on getting an autoelectrician i wondered if anyone could give me some/help or advice. both relay have been tested and one has been replaced due to water making it faulty but its still not kicking in. But when the relay is bypassed the fan comes on straight away. help please? Thanks

90 deg C is the correct operating temp for the engine & thats to LOW for the cooling fan to cut in anyway.
Sounds like you may need a new thermostat / coolant temp sensor as it should be running bang on 90 deg C during normal driving.

#7: Re: cooling fan problem? Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat Aug 25, 2012 8:08 am ---- Thermostat on a 206 petrol should open around 89 deg C, if its stuck open then the car will take ages to get to the correct running temp if it ever gets there.
Thermostat is cheap / easy to replace & normally cheapest from a Peugeot / Citroen main dealer.
Turn the aircon ON & the cooling fan low speed should cut in & out.
I ended up replacing coolant temp sensor then that showed up the thermostat was faulty to

Low speed fan shouldnt start till 95 / 96 deg C OR the low speed fan will cycle on & off when the aircon system is in operation.
I'd also look at the low speed resistor for the cooling fan.

Do i need to do anything? there dosent seem to be any problems with general operation

98 degrees = Normal
96 degrees = Slow speed fan kicks-in
Temp gauge on the dash = Totaly inaccurate anyway on most non-mux 206.
Even multiplexed 206 have some reading error and they take data from the same thermistor
as the ECU does, unlike non-multiplexed that have dual-ellement sensor.
