#1: Fitting Sony Stereo Author: 206_206, Posted: Fri Aug 31, 2012 1:06 pm ---- I bought a 2003 Peugeot 206 this week, which came without a stereo. I believe that there are three wires showing in the space where it should be.
Am I correct in saying that they are
1) Aerial
2) Power
3) Speakers
I'm planning on buying this Sony stereo from Halfords www.halfords.com/webap...yId_165474 and have already ordered the fascia they suggest off Amazon.
Does anybody have any advice about fitting it? Any specific tools that I will need? Or any connectors to go from the wiring that is there into the stereo?
Other than disconnecting the battery first I don't know a whole lot about it. Any advice welcomed!

Yes you have go the connections right. It's simply plug and play, you may need a aerial adaptor to use the radio and on the wiring harness provided with your new head unit simply switch the red and yellow wires around. I'm 100% sure this has been asked numerous of times!

Have a look in the ICE section and you should find everything you need to know.

Also, forget that model and get one that has a USB port, you'll never look back and can be found for around the same price if you try.

I was actually toying with the idea of a USB port, with the obvious advanages of a digital input improving the sound quality and preventing battery drain.
However, I have an Android phone and no iPod, so I'm not sure how seamlessly it will connect to the stereo. I did a bit of reading up on it and it suggests that as the music is stored on the microSD card I will have to put the phone into 'mass storage mode', which is a bit of a faff. If it's a choice between that and simply attaching the aux cable, then the latter probably wins.
Any thoughts on that?
Thanks for all of the other advice. I'll definitely play is safe and disconnect the battery! Is there any way of finding out if I need an aerial adaptor before I buy the stereo? I'd like to try and order it more cheaply off Amazon if I need one.

About half of the audio I listen to in the car is podcasts via an app called Listen (made by Google), and there's a chance that this won't be compatible with the USB connection.
There's also the option of a bluetooth stereo. They seem to get pretty good reviews on the Android forums.
