Does the GTI 180 have a rev limiter?

Whilst testing out the car I have been red-lining it quite a few times and occasionally gone just over 7k revs where it appears to slow down very quickly and briefly, I am wondering if this is the rev limiter kicking in.

Is there any damage to be done by continuously red-lining (well, shifting bang on 7k revs, where the red line starts)?

When racing to 60mph I change gear bang on the 7k rev mark, well maybe a fraction before - is this the correct way to get the maximum out of the car?

Yes it does, its software controlled in the engine ecu software package.

Waht id do if I was you would find a nice empty B road, and in 2nd or 3rd accelerate till your bouncing on the limiter, will be around 7500 in the 180 I think find that point then change gear around 250rpm before that

never be that easy, it took me over an hour to plot a graph to show me the best rev to shift up
