#2: Re: How many 206 gti 180 turbo's in the uk?? Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,WarwickshirePosted: Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:45 am ---- I got a quote back from pug1off for turboing my v6
"Hi Paul,
This would be completely custom work, you’d have to expect to spend in excess of 10,000 for a half decent job. Supercharging may be a bit cheaper 6-7000 maybe. Then you need to think about the diff as this will be custom too.
Best regards,
Matt"
So I'm not going to do that anytime soon
#3: Re: How many 206 gti 180 turbo's in the uk?? Author: JamieM, Posted: Tue Sep 04, 2012 7:13 am ---- There is a 400 bhp one in circulation from Devil developments
No info on the car though, but my mate works there here and there and told me about it & I did see a picture.
There will be a few about that aren't on forums.
Only found out about some nos powered ones before because they ended up on ebay lol.

Plenty of potential in those...although I think they use BMWs Valvetronic system rather than a proper throttle butterfly and all that might be difficult to hookup to a standalone ECU.

Name rings a bell, Devil Developments,
Rear mounted turbo apparently, 350 bhp & it's a 180.
That's what I was told, my mates Glanza goes there & he does a few other bits for mates, one works there on a weekend basis I think.
They could be just pulling my c**k, like I really give a s**t though lol there was a KMF 206 in a RR pic only the rear end and they said about it.

What a load of utter b******s. The DT loves to alter its timing daily along with piston ring failure on the DS side of the market.
The engine is shockingly bad

Wasn't there a recall for something causing engine fires?
That was for the electric water pump that cools the turbo.

Yes that STILL fails
Its by far the absolute worst engine ever possibley built by PSA
Give me a TU5JP with a turbo anyday of the week

406 & C5 HPI
It was problematic to say the least

Ive never came across one, or really heard of it, but s**t not pointless
I can understand the EW slightly but its a bit ahead of their time, as HPI didnt really enter the petrol PSA market till the EP6DT to assist atomistation of the fuel.
I would think BMW introduced it but ive heard from other techs at the headquarters we actually designed the cylinder head
Best engine we made, TU or XU by far. But the new 1.0 and 1.2 engines intrest me with the oil lubricated cambelt
#22: Re: How many 206 gti 180 turbo's in the uk?? Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Sep 05, 2012 2:49 pm ---- HPI had a Siemens high pressure direct injection petrol system running between 30 & 100 bar fuel pressure.
It was problematic, not many people bought one & it was killed of.

Thats old technology.
Honda first did this years ago on the GC range of industrial engines

Xu lump had its fair share of timing problems didnt it.
#25: Re: How many 206 gti 180 turbo's in the uk?? Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Sep 05, 2012 3:02 pm ---- It took PSA till 1994 to get rid of the designed in rattle on the 8 valve petrol XU lumps
The pre 94 XU petrol 8 valve lumps if it stopped rattling from the top end you knew something was wrong with it

The first ever TU's did, piston slapping valves
But thats when the days you could smoke next to someone draining petrol and submerge appretinces in oil

I've seen the aftermarth of a mechanic doing just that as a private job while draining a misfueled Vectra diesel hire car via the access panel under the rear seat.
Car was a total loss

Tbh andy, if i ever got a 207 gti (i like them alot) i would remove the cams and have a wood ruff key ground into them and know im safe for life

Anyway... My mate owns a 180 that's been turbo'd by Devil in Littlehampton. Not sure if that's the one everyone's on about but it's not running 350bhp. It's at 252bhp currently but there's more plans.
