Not worth buying the tools needed just to change 1 timing belt & you really need to know what your doing with these, plenty of garages have got these set up wrong over they years

Just a simple flywheel peg for one type and a crankshaft pin for the second type
Tbh you could do it with tipex and tools just to make sure. I did my Gti 138 with drill bits and tipex, drill bits had a bit of play but the tipex made sure i was 100 percent (yeh im that epic)

Your right addaz the timing belts sent that bad for cocking up etc , I find the lack of space to work in somewhat problematic
