#1: !.6 8v running fault Author: missmoneypenny, Posted: Fri Sep 07, 2012 4:26 am ---- Hi to all! I'm new to 206 ownership having just bought a 1.6 8v Roland Garros, 1999 V reg..it has a running fault and I wondered whether anyone could tell me if the fault is common to this engine and what might be the cause. What happens is, the engine revs suddenly drop off and then instantly go up again. This may happen two or three times in quick succession and then the revs settle down for a while before the process repeats...tick over is generally lumpy but fuel consumption is normal...this problem seems worse when the engine is warming up rather than when it's fully warm but it's still there even when warmed through. The engine doesn't cut out. Can anyone throw any light on this? it's a lovely car, my first Peugeot, and very nice to drive despite its fault!

If not, check the air flow meter/ air mass meter (depending on which one you have). Clean the idle controller valve out and make sure the car has had a service at some point in the recent past (if it's been over a year get it serviced).
