#1: goodbye my awful car Author: chris_h, Location: ukPosted: Mon Sep 10, 2012 6:58 am ---- Well last night on the motorway, i lost all power and had to pull up and wait for recovery.
He took one look at it, turned the key and said these words 'cambelts gone mate'.
Typical. I had an engine judder (mild) on purchase which would come and go, and this judder turns out to be the cambelt, as the same thing happened when i lost power.
Not even had it 12 months, and it is now sat at home probably with mashed up valves and conrods and hell i bet the crank shaft is bent.
arg rant over, you may now mock me and tell me it is my own fault

Peugeots are so very cheap now I got a friend that's selling a 206 gti 2ltr only due to insurance being too much for him and he is selling for 600

#15: Re: goodbye my awful car Author: southwestchap, Location: DevonPosted: Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:09 am ---- I reckon you could find a respectable scrappy who would sell you another 1.1 engine the right money. then just swap the block and bold all your ancillaries to the new one. Cam belt can be done when the new engine's sat out on the ground along with water pump as it will be easy as. Depends on what MOT/Tax on the car you have whether its worth getting rid or if your confident enough to do an engine transplant. 1.1 is relatively easy plenty of room to work around etc.
