#1: considering buying a 2.0 hdi - need advice Author: colganraz, Location: Leeds PostPosted: Sat Sep 15, 2012 5:20 pm

I need a bit of advice on buying a 2.0 hdi 206, im considering selling my car for a number of reasons being...

206 would be

1. Little bit better in fuel
2. Far cheaper to insure
3. Cheaper repair/service bills
4. Im a 206 fanboy
5. The sale of my current car would leave cash in my back pocket

I hear the 2.0 hdi remaps well how true is this?

Are there any common problems with this engine model?

Which models are fitted with the bosch ecu over the siemens?

Will it be worth my money to buy one?

How do they compare to other diesels on the market?

Any answers are appreciated

Sorry forgot to mention this one, does the hdi smoke much? Standard and remapped ?

usual 206 problems: rear axle.

engine wise are generally good, bottom pulley tends to fail but peugeot got the uprate parts to replace.

make sure you get at least a 52 reg to enjoy the low road tax.

injector and turbo tends to wear off over time but nothing too difficult to fix.

and make sure you don't buy the remapped one as those will be trashed on the road, almost garantee turbo bill will be coming soon.

it shouldn't unless it's a bad map or clogged filter/ dead turbo/ boost leak

Nice one Seabook, you seem to know your stuff on this model, ill be looking at buying an 03 onwards with sub 80k on the clock...

I have noticed the quicksilver model produces the exact same power but is 2 insurance groups, and 1 tax band lower thanthe sport/xsi model, any idea why? Have you got urs mapped Seabook? Ever thought of FMIC?

When i get a 206 im deffo goijg FMIC and remap, thats why im gathering info Razz just gotta find if the siemens ecu remaps, hdi-tuning dont offer a map for it.

Cant wait to get another 206 now, missed my xsi loads lol.

Do u mean hes running at 150bhp or whp ? I hear fmic and remap is around 155bhp on these cars and close to 130whp

yeah i got around 140 without intercooler, haven't got time to put it on roller yet, shall get it done before christmas, i should see 150 if not more.

intercooler and remap route is way better in terms of both performance and reliability. since inlet air temperature is lower; it will be less harsh to the turbo and engine.

from what i remember is the trim level is different; XSI is the top trim; someone should know better than me as i am not too bother with those stuff Laughing

and there should be and eco version too, HDi with the letter i in red, it got slightly longer 5 gear which give you slightly better mpg and lower tax too.

quick question, does anyone know if the Siemens ECU can be remapped anywhere yet? I dont wanna have to keep calling people and asking them randomly whether they have a Bosch or Siemens in their car and snubbing the Siemens ones LOL

I dont believe there is a way of identifying this without seeing the ECU ? by model/year/trim etc
