it will srink but wont catch fire, i had gti engine cover come off as the clips was not on and it wedged itself on the manifold it just melted.

if you get some good carbon wrap im sure it will be fine.
on my engine cover i put some cheap sticker and its still holding on and didnt catch fire.
(i dont even think the cover gets warm)
you might want to try though is to cover up the big'dent'thats in the middle..glasfyber?
would make it a lot more easy to stick the carbon on and it will look more smooth.
