Masked Crystals - job for anyone?

#1: Masked Crystals - job for anyone? Author: lee1985, Location: North West PostPosted: Thu Sep 20, 2012 5:41 pm

Is anyone around the Manchester area able to mask my standard crystals for me (I assume I have the standard crystals - see the pics of my 180 here www.206info.co.uk/Foru...7888.html)

Will offer £30 in cash to anyone who can do a top job to mask my crystals so they look blackish (I assume that masked crystals do not affect light quality at all from standard ones?) and mix in better with the colour of the car. I know I could attempt to do it myself but I'm really not a hands on person especially when I've no idea what I'm doing with no experience either.

My next job will then be to replace my rear lights which many of you have constantly said are horrible, I will probably with these ones as I liking them, but will need masked crystals to match. It'll look good, right?

Try Dave

Might be easier to contact him through NWCOC though.

I wouldn't bother with those rear lights as they are not 'e' marked so aren't road legal. Not sure if on the picture they are lit, which will probably mean no reflector.

Thanks Macca. I've PMed Dave as I am not a member of his site yet.

I've just googled that E mark babble and in short it agrees with what you say that it isn't road legal, so thanks for that. They look very nice though.

Still want my standard crystals masking, so if anyone else would like to do it whilst I'm waiting for Dave's response, then let me know.

those lights wont be e-marked as they are produced for road use in the US , the US have more strict laws about there vehicles safety than the EU so just because they haven't had a stamp put on them they will work just as well if not even better than any EU light on the + side how many MOT stations actually go into that much detail " Bulbs all work = pass "

Have a look at the pictures further down the advert. Doesn't look like they have a reflector on them, therefore illegal to use in this country under The Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations.

Also if they were built for America, then they will probably have red indicators, again illegal in this country as the colour fitted to a vehicle built after 1st September 1985 has to be amber.

£132 is a lot of money to have them sat in a shed somewhere. No refund would be available as the advert clearly states not 'e' marked.

Plus it is actually illegal full stop to drive a vehicle with any part that is not e marked so I read.

its also illegal to:
- collect rain water in the US

- throw a stick for your dog or even die in the houses of parliament within the UK

- oooo and another fun fact... taxi's ( Hackney Carriages in london ) must carry a bale of hay and a sack of oats. at all times.... < Its ILLEGAL for them not to >

but still ?

I see your point but I'd rather not get pulled over by the police and then given 3 points for driving with illegal lights because it's pretty much the same as driving with bald tyres - don't think many would do that?

Looks like Dave isn't interested as read but no reply, so will just say the offer still stands until whenever I either get it done or just buy a pair from someone.

I didn't reply as I didn't have time when I read your message. I am going away until tuesday but will contact you once I'm back and we can sort something out.
