would anyone think putting a chrome trim around of the the number plates would be a good addition or do you think this would look tacky.

I don't think it would look right as the only chrome trim on a 206 is on the badges. Saw a pink numberplate surround on a car yesterday and didn't look too bad, and being pink I looked at the driver too who was quite tidy and in her early 20s.
