#1: Cold start procedure Author: SteveTDCi, Location: StamfordPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2012 7:56 am ---- On the 1.4 petrol what's the procedure for starting from cold. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the cold start issue on mine, it only does it when cold and once in the first 2 minutes then it's fine for the rest of the day.its almost as if the thermostat is sticking or the idel valve is. It starts to almost overfuel then if you push the accelerator to the floor it clears it.
I have replaced a few bits, ecu temp sensor, crank sensor and map sensor, all have made a worthwhile improvement but not solved the issue.
There a no fault codes, I was thinking of just picking up a cheap idle valve off eBay to try, I intend to get this fixed and then I think I'm selling it.

#3: Re: Cold start procedure Author: SteveTDCi, Location: StamfordPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2012 11:58 am ---- Sorry, it starts fine runs well for 60-120 seconds then it's as if it's over fuelling, if you leave it then it will slowly rev lower and lower until it dies, however if you prod the accelerator it will clear itself and run fine until its left for a few hours.

I purchased a cheap third party one from ebay for my 1.4 petrol and it has been working fine for over a year now, for what they cost I suggest changing it and seeing what happens.

I'll update this later. It seems to be the bit from idling cold at 950rpm down to 700ish when warm, hopefully it is just the iscv, we will soon find out
