My engine decided that the other day it would die just deciding what engine to replace it with opinions welcome

Sorry engine was a 1.4 8v tu engine out of a 53 plate was thinking of doing a hdi 2.0 conversion

I think that MEGAA guy got a 1.6 8v from the Saxo VTR to run with his ECU and loom so you'd only have to swap the block, but it depends on how your inlet manifold branches are spaced and what year your car is.

From petrol to diesel?

Just drop a TU3 in and be done with it, save your money for the next car.
Seb changed his to a saxo 1.6 engine (I think) and he was bored of it in months (from what I remember)
