#1: 1.4 to GTi 180 conversion Author: BiggJJ, Posted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 11:44 am ---- Hi to all,
This is my first post on 206info, so be gentle.
I am starting a project, I have an 1999 206 1.4. I am wanting to do an engine transplant, by putting in a GTi 180. But I have a few questions before I start ripping the old girl apart.
Will the 180 fit in the bay, or will modification have to be made to the frame?
Can a turbo be fitted to the 180 power plant?

I would think you can fit a turbo but I dont know how.
#3: Re: 1.4 to GTi 180 conversion Author: BiggJJ, Posted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:10 pm ---- So it will fit!? Brilliant.
I thought I would have to change a lot. But I think it will be worth it when it is finished.
I can get my hands on a good condition 180 Engine and gearbox, but what else will have to be replaced?
I'm trying to compile a list of things so I can get a estimate on what it will cost.

#5: Re: 1.4 to GTi 180 conversion Author: BiggJJ, Posted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:21 pm ---- I was looking at a Brembo GT 4 conversion. They're a bit pricey but I want my project to be as sweet as possible.
Why would the wiring be a nightmare?

#8: Re: 1.4 to GTi 180 conversion Author: MrZiggerz, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:50 pm ---- You will need rear discs, meaning a new rear beam.
You will need bigger brakes.
You will need better suspension, pretty cheap unless you want top notch stuff.
You will probably want some sort of GTi kit or wheels, ect.
Price that up in your head.
#10: Re: 1.4 to GTi 180 conversion Author: BiggJJ, Posted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 1:04 pm ---- I think you all may be right. Suppose a 180 to start with would be a whole load easier. (And cheaper)
Also, is there a specific turbo anyone would recommend for the 180?
