Will GTI clocks fit a non GTI?
-> 206 Problems

#1: Will GTI clocks fit a non GTI? Author: kippo2012, Location: Devon PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 2:35 pm

So 2 weeks after buying my 206 the speedo decided to stop working, but all the other clocks do, and a few of the bulbs around the dials have died as well. Took it in to the mechanic and he did the usual unplug and plug back in trick, speedo still doesn't work, and he put new bulbs in and they still don't light up...

I'm now looking around for a new speedo/clocks, but thought I might as well double check if GTI clocks fit in my LX? Can't be bothered to buy it only to find out it doesn't fit! Cheers Smile

No idea if mine is plexed or not, it's a 2001 if that's any help? I know I need a 2 plug connection though

Not sure what the differences between the gti and non gti clocks are, but from what I've seen it's just the colour.

yours is pre plex the gti has 2 plugs 1 yellow and one white, last time i tried to use dials form another car it blew a few fuses, all you can do is try really, all that will be different is the numbers and they might have different speedo range im not sure

Are gti's plexed then? All I know is that my mechanic said I need the ones with 2 plugs

Ah I'm confused. Hardly any of the ones on eBay say whether they're plexed or not, just whether they're one or two plug.. Think I'll just go for one that's come off a car the same year as mine, and hope it's the right one? Haha

Pre plex - 2 plugs
Plexed -1 plug
So with your mechanic saying 2as stated yours will be pre I've had fitted gti and RG clocks in mine and every worked correctly exept my mileage read out of course

Right

As above Pre multiplex has two connectors, white and yellow

Multiplex has one (white iirc)

Check if yours has an oil gauge or not first, as not every 206 does

If your car is MULTIPLEX then get a speedo that reads lower than yours as your BSI will take the highest reading

Does your 206 have a fat radio stalk controller?

Nope, it doesn't have an oil gauge.

Do you mean the radio stalk on the steering wheel? I wouldn't say it's "fat", probably 1cm diameter
