#1: Multiplex wiring Vs Aftermarket headunit :( Author: MattP182, Location: Spalding, LincolnshirePosted: Wed Oct 03, 2012 6:51 am ---- Hey everyone im new to this forum, I've searched for this topic but didnt really find anything so I was wondering if you could help?
In my previous car I had a sony headunit , unfortunatley that got wrote off, last week I bought a 2006 206 with some big plans for it, however after taking it to halfords to get the unit fitted in my car ( i didnt realise how easy it was to fit - quickest £29.99 ive ever spent lol ) I realised that once i started the engine the clock stopped and the 'left drivers door open' would freeze on the center display... after realising this i went back to halfords.. they said that it was because the 206 had a multiplex wiring setup and they said i should go to peugeot and see if they can help , anyway off i went to the local peugeot garage....and they quoted me £235!?! really?? is this the only option I have if I want a better stereo lol? im just wondering if anyone knows if there is a much cheaper way to bypass the system etc? any help would be much appreciated! sorry if I have baffled on haha

Tried dis-connecting the stereo?
You could also try re-booting the BSI just in case that helps.

#4: Re: Multiplex wiring Vs Aftermarket headunit :( Author: MattP182, Location: Spalding, LincolnshirePosted: Wed Oct 03, 2012 7:16 am ---- thanks for your help just taken it back to halfords as they offered a refund for the fitting however they refitted the old stereo..and bam... everything worked perfect like normal :S does this mean i wont be able to fit a aftermarket headunit without forking out £235, thats rubbish lol! - oooo also another problem when i had my sony headunit fitted was that when I had taken the key out of the egnition the stereo wouldnt automatically turn off

The easier option would have been to go to a Peugeot / Citroen main dealer & spend £8.98 at the parts counter on the multiplex ISO radio adaptor harness then simply fit your own radio.

Thankyou mr Bsi ... well everything works fine when the standard factory radio is fitted... so i dont think il have to reboot the bsi..if i understand correctly because, there's nothing wrong with it, the connection just seems to mess up when the new radio is fitted, i will be on my way to get one of them multiplex ISO radio adaptor... £8.98 sounds a lot more reasonable haha!

Swapping it out for a triple line display means you'll never get this freezing again, and it looks way better.
You can also swap over a pin on your Sony loom so that the HU goes off with ignition, and not when the BSI goes to sleep.
