From the 138 to the 180 the trailing arm and torsion bar setup has been modified with the addition of a pair of tie rods in an effort to improve the axle's stability.

Which ship wreck did that rotter come from?

That axle doesnt even appear to have the mounting bosses that were part of the later trailing arms. I reckon that's an exle from 2002 ish. Appears to have the later handbrake levers on the calipers.

It's very heavily corroded. You'll really struggle to make it perfect.

Just wondering. Is it possible to put larger disc's and calipers on this axel and if so what off?

I no the front does more breaking than the back but i think the discs with the 180 (Challeger /vortex wheels) Look a little small.

The reason i ask is because i want to put 302mm discs on the front :]

Cheers Pez

Just use 207GTI or C4 VTS front brake setup with Calipers and disc. They are 302mm and required 16" wheels minimum.

If you want bigger rear discs you could get the 406 v6 rear 290MM discs and calipers in under the 180 wheels? Calipers 2nd hand be about £50.00 the pair, new discs shouldn't be much more than £80.00 for a REALLY decent set and pads about £30/40. As the calipers are also setup for handbrake it means no faffing with a secondary caliper or hydrualic handbrake setup Very Happy
