Just as well I didn’t make a bet with you BSI.
I apologise for ignoring all advice I was given and went ahead and bought the car.
It seems people can make themselves look incredibly retarded when selling a car to the point when you believe them when they say they have no idea about cars! Unfortunately this retard was very smart as the diesel filter message didn’t come up on the test drive. It did however this morning when I filled up!
Peugeot want £300 for regen which may not work a further £850 for a complete replacement.
I have had quotes for removing the whole thing, one for £380 but that's in Manchester and another for £450 in Chelmsford, 18 miles from me.
I would have had to replace/remove it eventually as Pug said that these fail at around 80k so it would have been inevitable anyway.
I would just want a construction answer to, is there any disadvantage of having it removed?

' The 'diesel filter' on your cars alarm message is a particle filter in your cars exhaust system that traps most of the diesel particles. The fluid is Eolys fluid that is automatically injected into the fuel each time you fill up.
The fluid helps the particles to burn more readily at a lower temperature.
The particle filter is meant to be changed or cleaned out at 50,000, or on later model cars 80,000 miles. The Eolys fluid is filled up at the same time so that the system works for another 50 or 80k miles.
Most garages will just change the filter which is where the £749 cost is coming from.
If you are handy you can remove the particle filter & clean it yourself with jetted water & fill the Eolys container, costs about £120 for 5l of Eolys.
Your car may just need a good run ie 20 miles up the motorway at 3000 revs & 70 mph which may clean out the filter. But if your car is one that needed the filter service at 50k it will only be a temporary fix.
Do a forum search on 'FAP' & 'Eolys' & you will get a good understanding of how the system functions'.

No wonder. Wouldn't listen to the advice of anyone who hasn't actually owned a DV6.
You'll have blocked the filter more. To attempt a regeneration, you need to drive in a high gear and at low revs, above 40mph.
Get the codes read before you make your next move.

Everyone makes decisions against people's advice every once in a while i'm sure everyone on here has done it, but you don't learn from mistakes until you make one.
As no one else has answered my question, perhaps you could shed light on if I remove it is there any disadvantage?
