#1: Brake line spanner size Author: shaun88, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2012 3:28 pm ---- Ok, so this is annoying, i bought a set of brake spanners as im removing some of my brake pipes. Problem is 10mm is to small 11mm is to big, what other options are there?? someone said a 7/16 but im a bit out of touch with sizes does this sound like it would do the job its literally like i need a 10.5mm spanner???
Thanks guys and girls...
#2: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: Gavin28, Location: BlackpoolPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2012 3:48 pm ---- a 7/16 is about 11.1mm so wont help but they both usually work
Edit: If your replacing the parts anyway just use vice-grips
#3: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: shaun88, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2012 3:53 pm ---- Mole grips it is then lol. Just going to be a pig getting round the rear axle and lav. Bloody cars. Thanks

#5: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2012 4:45 pm ---- i would be surprise you can take it off with mole grip.
get a proper brake line spanner
#6: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: shaun88, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2012 4:47 pm ---- not going to take anything off that needs reusing, mole grips destroy anything they come in cntact with, and seabook i have but cant get none to fit as i explained??

Thats what happens with a lot of diy brake pipe jobs
#12: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: gazza82, Location: South BucksPosted: Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:22 am ---- It might be better to try and fit something down the side of the nut and spanner to take up the space. It it does slip it will just round it off more ...
And take care as if you turn the whole pipe it will bend or worse, snap off
#13: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: shaun88, Posted: Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:51 am ---- That sounds a good idea, im renewing all brake lines and joints anyhow so if worse comes to worst and they snap i am renewing anyway!!
Regards
Shaun

#15: Re: Brake line spanner size Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Fri Oct 12, 2012 2:37 pm ---- the 10mm will fit - it will just need a bit of encouragement. If it really won't, take a very fine file to the nut until it does fit...
