grr stalled again at 55mph on a carriageway!! not nice. Main beam on, dipped and main beam starts blinking then bang. It takes two turns to restart the engine. The ballasts are a good few inches away from ECU surely this cannot be it? It didn't act this way before, just as soon as I reach up to 60mph. Shocked

remove them. see how the car drives without them? could be something other than the hids messing with the ecu

If I remove it I won't have this problem but I am sure the problem doesn't rely on the kit itself. There is a loss of power somewhere.. I had a similar problem with the accelerator, never has done this since but see vid:

i would move the ballasts well away from the ECU and check you have good earths from the battery - the earth wires my need upgrading depending on the current your drawing from the electrical system.

thanks I will check this again, these ballasts cannot go far from where the bulb is installed so there is limited options where to locate them. they are these 35w ballasts if it helps: www.ilovepopular.com/C...173-55.jpg

Have you got one near the battery or the ABS pump?

So you know all the problem are from the HID's then?! Confused Surely these problem aren't worth having the HID's fitted! Why not remove them and see how the car runs. surely the car stalling at 55mhp isn't a good idea, i'd be making the car run right.

I know the HIDs make the problem worse but they can't be the source of the problem because I sometimes get random faults when something high pitched goes off. It feels like there is a bad earth point somewhere but not sure where. When I have the time I'll find out where it's coming from.

the noises on the stereo sound like your speaker wires are earthing out and you might want to wire your stereo with a permanent live feed not an ignition live as this effects the sounds too. Also put a proper earth onto your stereos chassis/case ,to dampen further if the noise persists fit a surpressor

thanks I will do this.. as for the HIDs is there any way I can use them without it interfering with the ECU? No matter where I move the ballasts, it doesn't stall now but it is showing constant faults such as brake fault, ESP/ASR etc etc perhaps 50% of the time when I turn lights on.

told you before you can warp the ballast in tin foil
