Does any one know what the cause could be? when i turn the steering wheel full lock mainly to the right it feels like im driving on gravel even on the smoothest of road?

i have 16" nimrods on so they aint too big or wide :S it happened with the old set too before the nimrods.

Yes the bearings on top of the springs will have gone especially if it happens WHILST you are turning the wheel

If on OEM springs you would struggle to get them out without splitting the wishbone from the hub carrier

Probably around £100 labour + parts at a garage (maybe a bit less, like 80) can't say I've ever paid anyone to do it so I don't know but it involves removing the shock absorber and spring to get them off.

Yeah just looking through the haynes now and it says that you would need to remove the whole suspension arm Sad outta my skill set I think I'd like to try it but I've managed to snap a rocker cover bolt lol. What are the complications of putting it off until I get the cash together for the garage?

Crap handling/steering feel, and it might upset the tracking resulting in uneven/excessive wear on the tyres

you dont have to take the lower arm out, its easier to lower the subframe ( not on the floor, just unwind the bolts 3/4 of the way) then use a big bar to pop it out. being careful on the drivers side not to pull inner joint out or youll bugger the drive shaft. judgeing by your description they sound bad, but if its taken x amount of miles of wear them out a month or two longer isnt guna to hurt. (mileage depending obviously) its worth considering front shocks while you have it all apart. well worth doing, transforms the car!

I think it's the V-belt slipping under load from the PS pump.

OR tracking is way out.

well ive had the top mounts on both front wheels replaced but every so often it still does the gravel feel when turning full lock. it feels like something slipping every wheel rotation , should i take it back to the garage and see what they think as i thought the top mounts were the culprit
