#1: Cluster woes! Author: millow_99, Location: KentpipePosted: Wed Oct 31, 2012 3:37 am ---- Hi everyone. I'll be brief and explain my problem. I have a 99 1.1 and since I bought it the tacho was dead. Last week, the speedo went to heaven too. I have peeled the forum on this matter and tried to repair it. All good after a couple of hours but then I accidentally ripped the ribbon to the display (odo). After a couple of tries I managed to make a good connection but then something just happened. Upon testing, I guess my fingers just made contact with the board and bam, white smoke! I've lost my lighting (cluster lights). Circuit seems fried on the board. Everything else works fine. Headlights too seem to be picky, works on low beam, but on full, they go out completely. Any ideas? Other than changing the unit completely?

Odo display too but then lost the lighting. Seems you repair stuff, others break down! The french and their shoddy electronics! Haha! Would getting a broken phase 1 cluster (obviously a broken speedo/tacho since there are a lot around) and exchange the motors work? What must I look for? I know I will lose my mileage since its a phase 1. Thanks!

One more thing, I use kms instead of miles, if I swap the dials in front, will it affect my speedo readings? I guess it should be good but better be safe, then we'll work out a deal. Thanks.
