Would a engine out of a 180 go straight into a 140 with out changing ecu or bsi n stuff

No.

It will fit in but it wont work.

Would be easier if it's a multiplexed 140, but still wouldn't be a straight swap. If it's a pre plex 140, dont even bother thinking about it unless you have a donor car.

because my engine has seized and I can get one cheap out of a 307 would I need to change the ecu and would my original keys still work

An engine is an engine, just swap that and use all you 206 looms. You should be fine

#8: Re: Engine change Author: Deano PostPosted: Wed Nov 21, 2012 12:51 pm
    ----
That's what I thought I am only changing the block but could do with knowing for sure the engine looks the same out of the 307 just don't want to take the block then him get rid of donor n me be stuck with n ecu so if I just change my block nothing else it should start up fine

How do I tell if mine is multiplex or pre plex because will I have to check that the donor engine is comin out of the same

As long as you only change the mechanical part and not any of the electrics you will be fine.

Yes it is possible, any 206 engine can be swapped around into any other 206, it's just 9 times out of 10, it's the 17/18 year old's trying to avoid the insurance, that by the time they spend the money buying all the bits and the time & labor to do it it would have come to the same price as just buying and insuring the other car in the first place.

307 engine should be the same but you would probably need to use 206 engine mounts, I would think most 2.0 engines around the same age from any Citroën or Peugeot would be the same? If your throwing in the 180 engine you would need a 180 ecu and I'm not 100% sure but you may need few other bits for the key to work.

If yours is 2002, it's multi plexed. Anything pre October 2001 is pre plexed.

Answered the engine code location question in your other thread.

We could do with admin merging all your threads because the same questions are being asked in each one and it's getting too easy to lose track of what advise you have already been given

PM an admin and ask them if they can be merged. On some forums it's possible, but don't know if they can do it on here.

It could have easily not been registered until 02 so you can't just assume it's multiplexxed

The easiest way would be to look at the fuse boxes if it's still in the car but I don't know what year multiplexxing started on 307s or even if they all are

VIN numbers are the only way you can guarantee it without looking at it yourself

307's are all multiplexed, pretty sure it's the first car peugeot went all out on the multiplexed system and cocked it up big time.

Mine is a 206 what's the difference with the fuse boxes like

That rings a bell lee

It's just an obvious way to see if it's multiplexxed or not on another vehicle, but look in lees starter guide to find out what type your car is.

Merging them might cause more confusion. Pick a topic to keep active, and let me know which are the others and I'll lock them!

A rare engine made in such small number it's largely irrelevant.
