We had an old guy take us round Ryton. He said the factory would stay open for years and years making the 206 at the same time as the 207 was being built. How wrong was he...

in answer to the original question.
differences on the 180 over the normal gti
heavier power steering (gives a much better feel)
bigger brakes
traction control (although some later 138's had this)
stiffer/lower suspension
much better rear axle with the extra support arms and bigger torsion bars/arb
bigger wheels (although some may consider this a downside) gear change is done by cable not rods (feels so much more positive)[b][i]
longer first gear
much more supportive seats and nicer interior
more power as standard
electronic folding mirrors
leahter speedo cover, micro carbon dash trim, micro carbon mirror caps, twin exhaust tailpipes, boot spoiler as standard etc
was told when we went to the factory in coventry the 180 has loads of extra welds to make the shell stiffer too
the gearchange on mine was horrid! it was something i always wanted to sort out, it used to get stuck in reverse and take a good tug to get it in neutral
