#1: Rear axle Author: Boywonder7, Location: AberdeenPosted: Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:38 am ---- Need help.. Rear axle on my 1.1 is knackered .. I bought the bearing repair kit from Peugeot fitted it this morning but the shaft on the beam where the bearings sit on is the problem I seen a kit on eBay that includes a replacement shaft. Does anybody know how to change the shaft on the beam?

normal garage or even dealer will not be able to do this.
#3: Re: Rear axle Author: Boywonder7, Location: AberdeenPosted: Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:49 am ---- What tools? And who would do it for me then?
#4: Re: Rear axle Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:51 am ---- Recon rear axle with a warranty is always the way to go with these.
Unless you have access to the correct tooling for repairing a worn axle there just not worth bothering with.
#5: Re: Rear axle Author: Seabook, Posted: Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:55 am ---- proper big size hydraulic puller and press.
The cross membrane arm will be pulled out together with the stud.
so forget to rebuild it yourself, it is impossible.

No chance, I wouldn't even bother rebuilding my own let alone somebody elses
If it was my own car i'd just order up a recon beam & fit that instead.

False economy.
#13: Re: Rear axle Author: LORDPSK, Location: CAERNARFONPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2012 8:50 am ---- Secondhand axle will cost between £80 & £100 non abs normal drums, reconditioned £250. All plus delivery, depends on age of car, how long you want to keep it and if you have the money for a recon. I fitted a secondhand and two months later the bearings went again, lucky it was covered by a 3 month warranty.
