#1: Fixing rear view mirror Author: fan168, Location: North HampshirePosted: Mon Nov 26, 2012 9:24 am ---- Any suggestions on how to fix my rear view mirror back to the windscreen? Have the automatic wipers option if that makes a difference. Tried double sided tape and super glue but its just not holding. Given its quite cold at the moment that could be causing the glue not to set properly.

Tip - Use a hairdryer to heat the pad up prior to affixing it to the screen, it greatly enhances the adhesive and subsequently, the bonding time is reduced. Still, it's a good idea to firmly hold it in place for 2/3 mins after the initial placing.

The one's I tried were all weather one's designed for fixing number plates. They seem quite sticky but just wouldn't hold. Didn't think about heating with a hairdryer but will give that a go.

Any general DIY hardware store should sort you out. I used number plate adhesive pads it done the job. The weather will have a big part to play as its so darn cold.

I’ve seen a lot of small vans on the road that just have the two wing mirrors so would assume its road legal not to have one but are the rules different for passenger cars? TBH I have been driving around for a few days now and am kind of getting used to not having one. Was a bit strange at first.
