#1: Bypass GTi 180 oil cooler Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Wed Nov 28, 2012 6:54 pm ---- I have read somewhere here that the standard GTi bottom hose does the job of bypassing the oil cooler on the 180...
..but the clip at the radiator is different. Will the GTi hose fit this even though it should be clipped on??

I'm looking at fitting a Mocal oil cooler kit in the new year once I have the cams and headwork done on the 180 and this is definitely a top I'm keeping my eye on to see what the results are and if you can by pass it in any way.

a road going 180 may not need one but in the new year I'll be looking at tracking it... mainly at the shows like TRAX and FCS and Pugfest which is the main reason I'm looking at fitting a oil cooler. Plus if it's got one already fitted, I'll only be uprating it.

The 180 has a cooler as standard in the form of a sandwich plate between the filter, and this uses a bottom hose which incorporates this. But it is less than useless and is not up to the job of cooling for a modified lump.
So... no answers yet??

Could you just cut the two pipes as close to the main coolant pipe then plug them?!?
Then just remove the water heat transfer plate for a oil cooler sandwich plate

Going to a breakers tomorrow - will keep you updated as I am sure this post will be useful in the future to others...
