I am looking to get PP2000 and need to know a few things

Where is the best place to buy (genuine)?

Also I have heard about PP clones, is there a way to disguish a clone and what are the dangers of using one?

Thanks

The price is the main difference between genuine and the clone. I'm sure Lee once said that the genuine PP2000 was about £3000. The clones start from about £70.

It's the lead that's the most important part. The software is available on the internet if you know where to look.

The latest software is Diagbox which has replaced PP2000. I think Diagbox works on Vista and 7, where as PP2000 will only run on XP.

The clones can cause problems with the BSI and I don't think you can do updates with it. If you get the genuine dealer spec, then you should be able to do anything the dealer does.

I've got a clone lead. Not had a problem with it although I won't use it to change settings just in case the BSI screws up. It's OK for ABS and airbag fault finding and resetting the EML/airbag lights and it seems to access all the menus without any issues.

I think 99.9% of people with PP2000 on their home laptop are probably running a clone version.

Ive used my clone from Ebay without problems. Even used it for some BSI tweeks.

Macca, did you ever get diagbox to install on Win 7?

Cheers for your help. I am looking at doing several things. One thing is to activate the automatic locking when going over 5mph. I've tried holding the button etc so it must be deactivated

the anti hijack feature isn't on all BSIs.

Never got it sorted Steve. Tried vista and 7 but the crack didn't make any sense on either OS. Ran a dual boot system so I could run PP2000 on XP. Just bought a cheap XP laptop so i can run a stand alone system.

I haven't had a problem with my clone, used it a couple of times for diagnostics and enabling features like trip computer on my 307.

Another quick question. I have purchased a kit now Smile it comes with pp2000 and diagbox. Can I use diagbox in the same way as pp2000 or is it completely different?

Just stick with PP.

Ok cheers for your help mate. Other than activating the auto locking and rear wiper when reversing what other things could be activated. I'm sure I recall someone saying they have activated a function which folds in the electric mirrors when the car is locked. That would be pretty cool Thumbs Up
