Just taking the car to check tyre pressure, but why sm I getting terrible road noise low speed upto 30mph round town. All tyres are on the correct way?
Thanks

#3: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:16 am ---- Cheap tyres?
#4: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:30 am ---- Tyres that came with the alloys. 3 Goodyear f1 and 1 tornado. Tornado front right.
It's worse when braking from 30mph to a stop or turning left?
It's not a bearing etc. as I drove the car 100 miles this morning. Changed the wheels and now noise?
#5: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:39 am ---- Try putting 2 Goodyear on the front and see if it makes a difference. Two different tread patterns can make a horrible noise.
You might also want to check if the tyres have rotation markings on them and that they are rolling the right way.
#6: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:54 am ---- Yea I will try that. All rotation marks are or react and have been checked by kwikfit. They found nothing wrong?
#7: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: bezford, Location: darlingtonPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:21 am ---- Check thete not warped.bent or damaged...the alloys that is...u might want a second opinion on wot kwik fit checked because there shixe...
#8: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:25 am ---- Just changed the Goodyear to the front and now it's slightly worse.
If they are warped is it fixable? I am not getting and vibration just the rumbling noise also pulling slightly to the left?
This might be a stupid question. I have used the same wheel nuts I had on the car? The original wheels were 14" peugeot alloys.
#9: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:42 am ---- Could it be sticking brakes?
My front brakes are low?
#10: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Johnbyron, Location: ScunthorpePosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:53 am ---- Does it woble your steering wheel at higher speeds ??
If it does then your wheels are buckled or out of balance,
My vortex's are out of balance due to the crap company that refurbed them and ground the rim back unevenly before I got the car and when I hit 65-70 mph the wheel starts to shake baddle and the car rumbles.
Also when I slow down from higher speeds without using brakes it wobbles more than accelerating.
I don't think it's your brakes by the sounds of it or you'd have noticed that before you changed the alloys ??
#11: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:58 am ---- I am not getting any vibrations or wobble?
Noise is between 20 and 40 mph up-to 60 70 mph it lessens?
#12: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Johnbyron, Location: ScunthorpePosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:08 am ---- Well your alloys are fine then and it's probably not your brakes, could be tyres.
#13: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:09 am ---- One of the tyres is dated 1996? Could this be it?
#14: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Johnbyron, Location: ScunthorpePosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:11 am ---- Dated 1996?? Where ??
#15: Re: Changed alloys terrible noise Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:13 am ---- According to kwik fit life of the tyre or manufacture date ?
