#1: Rear axle costs and labour costs? Author: Simmo, Location: YorkPosted: Tue Jan 01, 2013 3:13 pm ---- Sorry if there is already a topic about this, I have searched but didn't find anything much helpful. My cars rear axle on the right (drivers side) is very loose, my local garage quoted me dangerous and £576 for repairs. Would you say this sounds right? And does the whole rear axle need replacing? Is there any shortcuts to this???? The car is still drivable at the moment but it is risky and dangerous by which I mean if I hit a hard bump or hole it may collapse.......

As mentioned labour should only be an hour or two tops. So i'd budget £100 ish for that.
Can get a second hand axle or a refurbed one.
Second hand will be around the £100 mark as mentioned, a refurbed one will probably around £250-300 from the likes of IM Axles or similar.

Not sure if the axle is similar to the saxo but you might just need new bearings putting in on the stub axle. Just Google Ricky rpm or find him on Facebook he does a lot of french car repairs builds them races them etc
