#1: side airbag Author: sheerness PostPosted: Wed Jan 02, 2013 4:34 pm

Hi there again pug friends..

another day another problem, when we got the pug, the airbag light would flash all the time and the light next to that (yellow) looks like 2 people sitting with a belt across and side bags was on solid..

i have got a diagnostic kit with PP2000 to find out the fault and get it fixed. on the report it said the airbag ecu was at fault, so we have replaced this and the flashing light had stopped but the one that is next to it is still on and solid,

we have run the diagnostic again and it has come back with no faults whatsoever, do i have side airbags? i know there is one in the dash for front passenger and one in the steering wheel for the driver as they have the AIRBAG logo on the cover of them but i cant seem to find anything to suggest that i have side airbags......

also there are no wires at all under the seats so we can rule that one out. any help with this would be great guys, thanks in advance

Cars a 206 1.6l Roland Garros W-Reg (2000)

Regards
Dom...

Sounds like your passenger side airbag is turned off. Is it still the man with the belt across (might have x2 written next to it)

Down below the ignition is the key hole to turn the airbag on/off.

hi there steve206 thanks for your reply, yeah there is a key system to turn on and off the passenger air bag, when the air bag is turned to off the airbag icon stays lit and the one next to it with 2 people with a belt across also stays on, and when turned to on the airbag light goes off so that is the correct operation for that system but the belted one still stays on, grrrr

If you do a diagnostic again does it recognise the airbag ecu?

steve206 we have run the diagnostic again since the new airbag control unit and there are no faults at all on the airbag ecu..... plus the AIRBAG Light next to the solid light at the moment does not flash so working as it should.

Front and side airbag warning light.

Did you clear any crash data from the replacement airbag ECU?

Did you change any settings using PP2000? There is a function where you can tell the ECU which airbags are fitted. If you fit seats without airbags, and the ECU thinks they should be there there, the light comes on. Change the setting and the light goes out or on, depending what you click.
Go back into PP2000 and check to see which airbags the ECU says should be fitted, and deactivate the ones you don't have.

The seatbelt light is red.

Hi and thanks for all your input, I am going to have a look at the pp2000 again and see if anything under the airbag is flagged up I shall keep you informed!...

Kind regards
