#1: Verge of breaking down ... Author: Chrisr PostPosted: Wed Jan 02, 2013 4:42 pm

Sorry to be asking questions when im so new but hopefully one of you chaps may be able to help with a little problem ..

Wife was driving our 2001 1.4 petrol 206 and out of no were it began to stutter like it was threatening to stall and the engine light started flashing, I told her to pull over so i could have a look under the bonnet but found no issues ... started it up again n ran fine all the way home.

The mrs wont drive it now as she says its gonna break down on her but i cant see anything wrong with it ?? Maybe its a intermittent sensor problem or something ?? Has anyone experienced anything similar with there 206 ??

Many thanks in advance ... Chris Smile

First thing i would do it take it to your local friendly garage and get them to scan the car for any faults, will give you a clue as to what it could have been.

Spark plugs
Coil packs
Injectors

They are all fairly common for going, but without scanning your just replacing parts for the sake of it.

Coil pack or spark plugs Easiest way to tell is by checking the spark plugs. Take them all out one by one and see what condition they are in.

I had something like this happening for ages. First we cleaned out the throttle body, then put a new coil pack in, both of which made no difference at all. Then we put a new fuel filter and spark plugs in, and she's now running better than ever.
