#1: boost gauge lol Author: marshy206, Posted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 8:05 am ---- hi stupid question but just wanted to know if you have a boost gauge and a non turbo car is there anyway of getting the boost gauge to work i heard wire to vacuum once and it gets a reading does anyone know if thats right curious lol
#2: Re: boost gauge lol Author: bri-man, Posted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 8:08 am ---- *facepalm*
#3: Re: boost gauge lol Author: Dillon, Location: KentPosted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 8:12 am ---- Lmfao bit early for April fools isn't it? But you did say its a stupid question. The gauge will only read a negative pressure in your manifold when plugged into a turbo manifold it would read the positive pressure.

#5: Re: boost gauge lol Author: marshy206, Posted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:40 am ---- lol ok thought yous would find it funny was looking around on the web for stupid stuff and came across someone on a website that had done it i lol when i saw it i was like why would someone do something that stupid but saying that i had a mate that wired one up in his rover that was a funny day lol

#12: Re: boost gauge lol Author: AshH, Location: BirminghamPosted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 4:18 pm ---- Fit it to your Throttle, it soooooo works (y) lmao
#13: Re: boost gauge lol Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:07 pm ---- Yes you can make it work.
Connect a tube to the gauge but don't connect the other end of the pipe to anything.
Fit the gauge in a sealed tank with a pipe from the intake vacuum to that sealed tank.
The pipe that is connected to the gauge will have to come through the tank the gauge is in and that pipe just vents to atmosphere.
Now when you close your throttle the tank the gauge is in will be at low pressure.
The pipe to the gauge will be at atmospheric pressure and that will be higher than the pressure in the tank the gauge is mounted in.
It will work but the apparent "boost" will work in reverse and will show maximum boost on the over-run and minimum boost on full throttle.
A technical way of doing it but you would have to be very sad to. Even sadder than someone who wanted a boost gauge on a none turbo car!
Another option - get a volt meter, take the front off and repaint the face with boost pressure and appropriate numbers. refit the face, wire it in to your charge system with an inline variable resistor. You can get your passenger to keep changing the resistor and pretend you have a turbo boasting to your back seat mates.
#14: Re: boost gauge lol Author: bezford, Location: darlingtonPosted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:44 pm ---- U wouldnt be on about a false "purge"valve would u...i know u can buy them and people fit them so it seems like they are purgeing unneeded fuel/pressurised air from there. Imaginary turbo or intercooler...i think thats what there for but pointless really...
#15: Re: boost gauge lol Author: marshy206, Posted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 8:23 pm ---- its all pointless just thought i would mention it like f*** am i going to do something like that i am not a chav dont sit round car parks or mcdonalds call of duty and drink is better lol just me bro bought one so just thought i would put it on here see what peoples reactions are i knew it be something like the comments that getting put now quite funny really and yes it would be sad doing something like that to a non turbo car i tell you what if i saw a boost gauge in a non turbo car i would drag the driver out and kick the f*** out of him and say are you stupid dumb or both lmao
