#1: 206 steering gone weird :( Author: NayNay1991x, Location: LeicesterPosted: Sun Jan 06, 2013 4:00 am ---- Hey, took my peugeot to get tracking done yesterday (it had been.pulling to the left since I had it) when they finished I took it round the street and now its even worse the car wanders by itself you could be driving straight then all of a sudden the steering wheel will move and the centre will be a different direction then change again. Was told that its my 2 lower arms as the rubbers are perishing and the passenger side track rod end (may aswell say both) and a link rod for the steering or something maybe an inner tie rod?
What do you guys think could be those things?

If it was me I would have asked to look under the car at the defects when it was being tracked and on the ramp. Also if there was defective components the place that tracked it should have pointed it out before doing the work and suggested that you get it repaired before the tracking was done. As you have found out you have wasted any money you paid for the tracking.
Regards the bottom swivel joints they are the only thing securing the hub. There are many tales on here about accident damage following a complete failure of those swivels. Even if that doesn't happen you will wear out your front tyres in 3,000 or less if the wear isn't fixed.
If it was me I would find a garage that will have a look at the car on a ramp, quote for the work and also show you the defective parts while the car is being inspected for the quote.
These cars are easy to work on so any recommended independent garage will be fine.
Saying that I would do the work myself (I can) and the parts would be about £80.
Finally after the new suspension components are fitted it will need to be re-tracked. Make sure you go somewhere that does full four wheel alignment. However, as the rear isn't adjustable you will only pay for tracking £35 (ish) but the extra accuracy from the four wheel alignment equipment is worth having.

With 4x Alfas including 2x classics in the family, a 206, a trackday car and two motorbikes I have enough to keep that hobby busy.
I sometimes do classic car bodywork restoration for friends (usually Alfas) and will help out locals for the price of a few pints of "Tangle Foot" or 6X but that is it.
After work, helping my kids with their businesses and charity volunteering overseas that doesn't leave time nor do I need the income of additional business.
