#1: could this be a gearbox problem? Author: dan_manu, Location: Flintshire, North Wales PostPosted: Sun Jan 06, 2013 2:38 pm
    ----
today i put on my gt bumper and had to jack it up.

after i finished with everything i went to put my wheel back on.

as i was tightening it i had it in gear and handbrake up thinking that the wheel would stay still so i could tighten the bolt but it didnt, as i tightened the nut the wheel was moving with it and making quite a noticeable clicking noise.

could this be a gearbox problem? help and advice needed pls

Did you have both front wheels off the ground at once when you were trying to tighten the wheel up?

If you had one wheel on the ground it would have stayed put.

And unless there is an LSD all cars do this. Maybe not the clicking but with both wheels off the ground this will happen - it is what the differential is designed and fitted for.

It was the front wheels wasn't it?
