Cold air may slightly increase power though. But remember just how low your intake now is. Hit a puddle and the water can kill your MAF and engine.

is this a with a cone filter?
#18: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: jk206, Location: GainsboroughPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 12:50 pm ---- The cold air feed you put in will be low down, so when you go through a big puddle it will splash up and get sucked into the filter and possibly go through into you engine
#19: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: dan_manu, Location: Flintshire, North WalesPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 12:51 pm ---- ohh yeah :/ can you get them with water filters at all ?
#20: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: jk206, Location: GainsboroughPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 1:02 pm ---- What the cold air feed with a water filter?

If it's water tight, it will won't be far off being air tight.
#22: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: jonsully, Location: irelandPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:07 pm ---- something similar below,or you could just tiger seal the feed onto the bottom of the airbox.
but as the lads said be careful of standing water,i only use my car on track so its not an issue for me.
#23: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: bezford, Location: darlingtonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:37 pm ---- Just face it backover facing the rear if the car and use plenty of pipe so it has a bend rather than it being straight up and down like a straw for the engine it will be unlikely to get water intake with these precautions
#24: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: Mattie-RS, Location: A Track near you ;)Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 10:18 am ---- Why not be what wise people do and not get a open filter??
Panel filter or a enclosed induction kit only
#25: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 11:16 am ---- Doesn't take much more than an egg cup (maybe less) of water to destroy your engine. Whatever you decide know where your intake is and be careful of deep water.
#26: Re: cold air feed pipe Author: bezford, Location: darlingtonPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 3:48 pm ---- personally i am changing mine soon.....and i hate to show any solidaritry but i will be puttin a good k and n or similar panel filter in......keeps petrol mileage up(induction kits lower your mpg)keeps sensors happy....keeps water ingress at a minimum....and gives slightly better results to a budget panel....also the performance panel can be cleaned and might even give a noticeable bhp increase but u will have to be very sensitive to notice it but there should be a slight increase non the less...i expect to pay around£35 for a decent panel filter to fit my 137gti
