206 SW MOT Fail - Problem with lights

#1: 206 SW MOT Fail - Problem with lights Author: skyking_comms, Location: England PostPosted: Sat Jan 19, 2013 12:42 pm

Hi,
I'm looking to sell my 206 SW 2.0 DT in the next couple of months, but it failed the MOT yesterday due to problems with lights -

- Nearside indicator rear position lamp(s) adversely affected by the operation of another lamp <when turning on indicator with headlights on another light at the top of the rear column (brake??) also turns on and off>
I have cleaned the contacts on the rear light panel connector, checked all the bulbs but still the same problem. Garage said its either a wiring problem or bad earth and that I need an auto electrician Sad
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you resolve it?

- Both n/s o/s headlamp aim too low - Thought this was an easy fix but when the garage checked they said the aligners were broken and that I would need new ones. Any ideas what I can do?

I don't want to spend too much considering I'm selling it, so appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Bad earth is a common fault for the indicator problem. What headlights are fitted?

Rear lamp is always an earth fault, clean up all connections, including bulb holder, check your using the right bulbs. Are they frosted or crystal headlights? Do they level from inside the car ok?
