the old 205 ad with the white 205 being chased by a helicopter and seeing the T16 rally cars gave me the bug when I was a kid, couldn't find a decent 1.6 gti when I passed my test so settled for a Nova GTE lol, had that until I was 19 then the Miami 1.9 came up and that was me hooked, got the S16 after that only just over 1100 built, amazing car and even though 13bhp less than a gti6 out the box as fast on the road, until I tweaked and fiddled, hello 145mph on the limiter in 5th lol ( on a private road ) could have done with a 6th gear haha
#19: Re: Some of my old cars :-) Author: Big_Rich180, Posted: Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:46 am ---- The black 205 is lovely mate!

It was a painful day when I sold it, I'd spent 3 months and a lot of cash, blood sweat and tears building it and getting it just how I wanted, but the Type R RX7 came up, and after driving that, even standard before I started beefing it up, 280bhp with full TEIN adjustables and before people knew what they were I couldnt not get it!! Mental car!!! Chopped the S16 in against it and couldn't warrent/afford keeping/running both so had to go happy memories tho

I always fancied an RX7 but the overheads scared me off lol
I fancy a 205 Gti as a project/restoration proper nice cars.
#22: Re: Some of my old cars :-) Author: MattS16, Location: Long SuttonPosted: Wed Jan 30, 2013 6:02 am ---- LOL, if you do your research and find a good one (took me over a year to find mine) its not as bad as you'd think, just got to understand how the engine works, most of them fail through neglect and ignorance, had mine 2 years, it got the s**t railed out of it whenever I drove it, but good oil, warmups/cooldowns, cooling, both intake air and coolant/charge air mods (cheap) check the oil every few hundred miles and oil and filter every 3000 miles and good as gold, never skipped a beat, people forget its not a ford/vaux with a over sized engine/turbo it is a high performance finely tuned sports car, treat them like that and all is good.
Having said all that, the cost of fuel since when I had mine may make me think twice!!
I tried to track down my old Miami blue and black ones about a year ago to try and buy back as projects, but no joy, its an absolute nightmare to find a reasonable one that's not been magnetised and driven through Halfords or stripped and abused, and everyone wants silly money calling them "collectors cars" when they have nasty paintwork, no history, s***ty K&Ns and M3 mirrors .
Just GTi's do some lovely ones and have seen some on eBay/Pug Sport etc that have been nut and bolt restored by enthusiasts but you need £5000 for one of those!!
Plus I'm picky and want a 1.9 in Miami or black and need to be a 92 onward lol. My blue one had a CAT and ABS as ex demonstrator (Cat gave way to the full Magnex)

Definitely one of my favourite Mazda cars...RX-7 are gorgeous.
#24: Re: Some of my old cars :-) Author: MattS16, Location: Long SuttonPosted: Wed Feb 06, 2013 8:40 am ---- I miss the car, but not the fuel bill, had a Vaux cav TD in white to run along side it as live 35 miles from work, even back (8yrs ago) then when fuel wasn't priced as high as now it's cost me £15-£20 to go to work and back in it!!!
#25: Re: Some of my old cars :-) Author: Wayneone, Location: Milton keynesPosted: Fri Feb 08, 2013 4:49 pm ---- Love the 205, have never been able to decide between 1.6 or 1.9 tho.
